Guyana, Suriname evaluate bilateral economic and food security issues
Guyana President Donald Ramotar met with a visiting trade delegation from Suriname to evaluate bilateral economic ties and establish common ground on food security issues.
Cooperation between the two neighbors is key to «developing the quality of life for our people», Ramotar during the meeting, according to a government statement published online Friday.
Ramotar pointed out that both countries have vast lands and natural resources and that both have achieved a measure of food security.
«This is but one area where Guyana and Suriname could pool their resources to impact on the region as a whole,» the president said.
Suriname’s trade delegation is composed of public officials and representatives of the private sector.
