This was the message to scores of Barbadian men and women who converged on Heroes’ Square, the City, last evening as the National Organisation of Women (NOW) held its first rally against domestic violence.
President of NOW, Marilyn Rice-Bowen, noted that the journey has just begun, as she urged them to stand in solidarity with the organisation to take forward the message to end domestic violence.
“We need to talk about it. Don’t keep your mouth shut,” she said. “Men, you need to speak to other men and your male friends. Fathers, talk to your son and your brothers… use your hands to embrace and caress. Use your hands to help at home and to work. Use your hands to help take care of your babies. Do not use them for violence. Hold it down,” Rice-Bowen pleaded.
